Fourth Graders Visit Hoċokata Ti
Mr. Seme's Class
The fourth grade visited Hoċokata Ti in Shakopee on Wednesday, January 29th, at 8:45 a.m. They learned about Dakota people and history about them. The fourth graders each went through Hoċokata Ti's public exhibit, Mdewakanton: Dwellers of Spirit Lake, separated by class. They traveled through eras, learning about winter camps, summer camps, the Dakota War, etc.
One fourth grader who went said, “It was really interesting. My favorite part was definitely the winter camp part of the exhibit because I got to go inside the tipi.” Another fourth grader stated, “I really liked the field trip, but I wish we could have gotten more time to look at the exhibits, because I didn't get to look at everything I wanted to, but it was really cool.”
