There are many different types of arts at Blake, but one of the most important ones is theater. Theater at Blake is way different than most public schools, because most programs don't start until middle school, but Blake's starts in kindergarten and goes through high school. Every year Blake does a middle school and high school play and musical. This year the musicals are Matilda for middle school, and The Lightning Thief, the Percy Jackson musical, for the high school.

“My favorite part of theater at Blake is watching the students shine up on the stage! I always get so proud. When I was a student, I was way too scared to be on stage! Kids at Blake are super brave and talented,” said Ms. Hales, a 4th grade teacher. Bennett, a 4th grader, said his favorite part is “how theatrical it is and how when we do plays everybody gets a role.” Another 4th grader, Charlotte F., said she likes it “for many reasons, but one of the reasons is because you're not pressured to be perfect and it's just fun, and there's not really such a thing as too much acting, and everybody's really supportive and it's just fun.” “I like how we do plays and we don't just goof around,” said Stella, a 4th grader. From classes to clubs to shows, Blake has many choices for theater.
